(55 days) Open pollinated. This early fresh-eating pole bean is known for its distinctive umami flavor when cooked. Creamy yellow tender pods are best picked at around 5" long. Prolific vines grow to 7–9’. Our friends at Southern Exposure Seeds shared this bean with us, and it’s one of Nikos's favorites. For thirty years Nellie Chernoff, who received this variety from a Russian woman, grew the beans in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. In 1988 she passed the seeds on to her granddaughter Marge Mozelinkey, who has been growing them ever since. Brown seed.
