Extremely hardy and vigorous heirloom kale from England with large rounded slightly savoyed green leaves that remind us a little of collards. Stays tender even when quite large. ’Twas the star of the over-wintering high tunnel for its productivity and ability to maintain structural integrity through the freeze-and-thaw cycles of January and February. Come March it fulfills our cravings for early spring greens. Related to Thousand Headed kale, it produces plentiful sprouting shoots for a spring raab substitute. Brought to this country by Adaptive Seeds when it was given to the Seeds Ambassadors Project by the Heritage Seed Library of England.
