Almost unheard of.” Large frizzy endive with very fine ribs suitable for late spring and early summer harvests. Holds well in the field. Known to chefs as frisée. 19th-century French heirloom.

    Culture: When to harvest greens? Research from trials conducted in England and Kenya showed looseleaf lettuce, red chard and arugula harvested in the evening had a longer shelf life than when picked in the morning.

    Culture: Performs best in cool weather, spring or fall. Direct seed every 3 weeks, or start indoors 4 weeks before setting out, and space 1' apart for heads.
