Slow early growth is the key to Slobolt’s success as a summer lettuce. A 12–14" Grand Rapids–type, Slobolt often will hold well into July. Slobolt is versatile: one grower in NY reported good results growing it in winter under lights as well as tightly spaced in his summer garden. Introduced 1946 by USDA. Showed some ability to germinate in warm temperatures.
